The key contact for German companies intending to exhibit abroad is generally AUMA, a key organisation of the German trade fair industry. The organisation represents the interests of the exhibition industry at a national and international level in dealings with ministries, authorities and other organisations and is involved in balancing the interests of exhibitors, visitors and event organisers with regard to locations, dates and the range of products and services offered.

The official German programme of foreign exhibitions and trade fairs is agreed twice a year by the working group for German Pavilions within AUMA, which is made up of representatives of export orientated associations of the German industry, the Federal Ministries affected, the Federal Foreign Office and the government’s press and information office.

AUMA itself provides export orientated companies with facts, dates and reports on about 5,000 trade fairs and exhibitions worldwide through its website where it informs exhibitors and visitors about dates, offers, event organisers and the statistics relating to exhibitors and visitors from previous events at home and abroad. In addition, the organisation publishes trade brochures on participation at trade fairs and makes comprehensive details of target countries available.
